Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. In her early Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford will be next starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently filming on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton directed the show. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over a Century. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character as Essie. Other Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
